Visas & entry

Many nationalities enter visa-free; others use Mongolia's online e-visa. Rules change — always verify officially.

Citizens of many countries — including the USA, Japan, South Korea, Germany and most of the EU (under a program extended through recent years), the UK, Canada and others — can currently visit Mongolia visa-free for tourist stays, typically 30 days. Terms differ by nationality and are revised periodically.

If you do need a visa, Mongolia's official e-visa portal (evisa.mn) issues tourist e-visas online without visiting an embassy — usually within several working days.

Passports should be valid at least six months beyond your stay. Registration is required only for stays longer than 30 days. Travel insurance is strongly recommended for any countryside travel.

Important: entry rules change more often than websites do. Confirm your nationality's current requirements on evisa.mn or with the nearest Mongolian embassy before booking — treat any other source, including this page, as a starting point only.
